Introducing the DOA Series
The Dead or Alive franchise is a renowned AAA fighting game series developed by Koei Tecmo Games’ Team NINJA. Launched in 1996 with the original Dead or Alive, the series is known for its fast-paced 3D fighting mechanics. Dead or Alive 6 marks the sixth entry in the series, continuing its tradition of dynamic, multi-tiered stages that are crucial to the competitive experience.
Story
Dead or Alive 6 continues the narrative from Dead or Alive 5, focusing on two main storylines: the clash between the “Ninja and DOATEC” and “M.I.S.T. led by Donovan,” and the new “Dead or Alive 6” tournament. The game will also introduce new episodes for returning characters, expanding the ongoing saga.
The New Visuals
The visuals in Dead or Alive 6 enhance the fighting game genre with dramatic lighting and intense combat scenes. The game features improved skin and sweat textures, introduces visible wounds, and incorporates flexible, varied facial animations, adding depth and realism to each fight.
Triangle System
Combat in Dead or Alive 6 is based on a traditional triangle system: strikes beat throws, throws beat holds, and holds beat strikes. Successfully landing an attack that counters another type, such as striking when the opponent attempts a throw, results in a Hi Counter attack that deals extra damage.
Break Actions – New Combat Mechanics
The introduction of the Break Gauge (Special Move Gauge) in Dead or Alive 6 adds a strategic layer to the fights. New actions are accessible by pressing the [RB] button, allowing even beginners to engage with the system effectively.
- Break Blow: A powerful, high-damage move that knocks the opponent away and parries incoming attacks, offering both offensive and defensive capabilities.
- Break Hold: A useful counter technique that can be executed while the player is heavily stunned. It should be used strategically due to its lower damage output.
- Fatal Rush: By consecutively pressing the [RB] button, players can perform unique combos. This move is accessible for beginners but can be a double-edged sword for advanced players due to its risk-reward nature.
New Danger Zones
- Rumble Danger: When knocked into onlookers, they will push the player back into the center of the stage, blending the atmosphere of a street fight with tactical strategy.
- Mass-Destruction: Knocking an opponent into a stack of boxes with a “Break Blow” or “Fatal Rush” will send them crashing through the boxes, causing massive damage and delivering an exhilarating burst of action.
